Instagram Settings & Account Management

The Instagram Settings page (located at /instagram/instagram-settings) provides agent-level naming and account management controls for your connected Instagram profile.

1. Agent Name Configuration

Customize the internal display name of your InstagramAgent entity:

• Agent Name Field: Enter a human-readable identifier (e.g., Acme Instagram Support Agent or Instagram Sales Bot).
• Save: Click Save Settings to persist the updated name.
• Organization Visibility: This name appears in workspace logs, agent selectors, and analytics dashboards.

2. Connected Instagram Account Overview

The Instagram Account card displays the organization's linked profile details:

• Profile Picture & Handle: Displays your synced Instagram avatar and @username.
• Connection Badge:
  • Connected to this agent: The agent is active and listening to webhook events for this account.
  • Integrated · not linked: The account is authenticated with Meta, but not currently assigned to answer DMs or comments for this agent.

3. Disconnect vs. Remove Account

Kipps.AI provides two distinct levels of disconnection to protect your data and give you complete operational control:

Option A: Disconnect (Soft Unlink)

• When to use: When you want to pause automated AI responses, perform manual agent maintenance, or temporarily answer all DMs by hand.
• How it works: Sets account.agent = null. The Meta access token remains intact, and you can re-link the account with one click by tapping Connect.

Option B: Remove Account (Permanent Hard Delete)

• When to use: When you are switching Instagram accounts, transferring ownership, or completely removing Instagram integration from your organization.
• How it works: Located under the Danger Zone section. Clicking Remove account prompts a confirmation popconfirm, then issues a permanent deletion (DELETE /instagram/accounts/) removing account tokens, conversation threads, message history, and templates.

4. Re-Authenticating Expired Meta Tokens

Meta Graph API access tokens expire periodically (typically every 60 days) or whenever the managing Facebook account changes its password:

1. If automated responses stop sending or incoming messages are delayed, open the Integrations page.
2. Select the Instagram card and click Reconnect.
3. Re-authorizing refreshes the access token without wiping your Knowledge Bases or templates.

What is the difference between Disconnecting an account and Removing it? Disconnecting unlinks the Instagram account from the InstagramAgent entity (account.agent = null), which pauses AI replies while keeping the account authenticated with Meta and preserving all conversation history, templates, and logs. Removing an account permanently deletes the account from Kipps.AI (DELETE /instagram/accounts/), unregisters webhooks, and removes all associated messages and templates.

Will changing the Agent Name affect my live Instagram account? No. The Agent Name is an internal label within Kipps.AI used for logs, organization dashboards, and analytics. It does not alter your Instagram username, display name, or bio.

How do I reconnect an Instagram account if its Meta access token expires? Meta access tokens expire roughly every 60 days or when your Facebook password changes. To refresh your token, navigate to Integrations → Instagram and click Reconnect to re-authorize via Meta OAuth without losing any agent configuration or templates.

Can I connect multiple Instagram accounts to a single organization? Organizations currently support one connected Instagram professional account per organization workspace.
