Troubleshooting
The CSV upload fails or shows an error. Ensure the file is in CSV format (not .xlsx or .xls). Check that the file uses UTF-8 encoding — export from Excel using "Save as CSV UTF-8" to avoid encoding errors. Also check that the phone column contains numbers without extra formatting (commas, spaces, or special characters in the data may cause parsing issues).
Phone numbers are being marked as invalid during upload.
WhatsApp requires phone numbers in E.164 international format (+CountryCodeNumber, e.g., +919876543210). Numbers without a country code or with local formatting (dashes, parentheses, spaces) may be rejected. Clean the phone column before uploading.
The CSV audience is uploaded but not appearing in the campaign audience dropdown. Audiences may take a moment to process after upload. Refresh the page and check the Audience section again. If the audience still does not appear, verify the upload completed successfully — a failed upload will not create an audience entry.
Template messages are sending but placeholders are showing as blank. This occurs when the CSV column mapped to a placeholder does not have values for all rows. Ensure every row in your CSV has data in the columns mapped to template placeholders. Contacts with empty placeholder values will receive messages with blank parameter slots, which may violate WhatsApp template policies.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reuse a CSV audience across multiple WhatsApp campaigns? Yes. Once a CSV audience is created, it can be selected for any number of campaigns. The same audience can serve an Outreach Campaign, a Lead Campaign, or a Birthday Campaign simultaneously.
Can I add or remove contacts from a CSV audience after the campaign starts? Once a campaign starts using a CSV audience, modifying the audience does not affect the running campaign. To add contacts, create a new campaign for the additional contacts. To remove a contact from receiving messages in an active campaign, pause the campaign if the contact has not yet been processed.
What is the maximum number of contacts I can upload in a single CSV audience? The limit per CSV upload depends on your Kipps.AI subscription plan. For very large contact lists, split the CSV into multiple files and create multiple audiences, then target them across separate campaigns or in sequence.
Can I use the CSV audience for both WhatsApp and Voice campaigns? Yes. The same CSV file can be uploaded as an audience for either a WhatsApp Campaign or a Voice Campaign. You can also create two separate audiences from the same CSV and use each for a different campaign type.
How do I include personalization data (name, order ID) in the CSV for template placeholders?
Add each personalization field as a separate column in the CSV. During campaign setup, map each CSV column to the corresponding template placeholder ({{1}}, {{2}}, etc.). Ensure the column header names are clear so you can identify them during the mapping step.
