Lead qualification node
Classify a lead as Hot, Warm, Cold, or Unknown from the conversation before it, extract data points, and branch your workflow on the result.
The Lead Qualification node uses AI to read the conversation from the step before it. It classifies the lead as Hot, Warm, Cold, or Unknown, extracts the data points you ask for, and saves the result on the lead. You then connect each outcome to a different next step.
How it works
- The node reads the conversation of the node that is connected to its input.
- After a Phone Call node or an Incoming Call trigger, it reads the call transcript.
- After a WhatsApp Template node, it reads the WhatsApp messages exchanged with the lead since the lead joined the campaign.
- After any other node, there's no conversation to read, so the lead is classified as Unknown.
- The node has no delay of its own. It runs as soon as the step before it finishes. For WhatsApp, a lead who hasn't replied yet is classified Unknown.
- The node runs only while the campaign is Active.
- If the conversation doesn't give enough evidence, or the prompt is empty, the lead is Unknown. The AI bases its decision only on what the lead said or did.
Add the node
Open the Logic & Data group in the left NODES panel and drag Lead Qualification onto the canvas. Connect it to the node whose conversation it should read. Double-click the node to open the Configure drawer.
Configure the node
| Setting | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Node Name | A name that describes the step, for example qualify-after-call. |
| Qualification Prompt | The criteria. Describe what makes a lead Hot, Warm, or Cold for your business. |
| Fetch Lead Data | The data points to extract from the conversation. |
| Save result to lead | On by default. Saves the status and the extracted data on the lead. |
| Also save lead score as | The name for the lead score. The default is lead_score. Appears when Save result to lead is on. |
Write the qualification prompt
The prompt is the rubric for the decision. State what each status means. For example:
Hot: the lead confirms a date to visit and gives a budget. Warm: the lead is interested but wants to compare options. Cold: the lead says they are not interested. If the call did not connect, mark Unknown.
Click Auto-generate to have Kipps.AI write a prompt from the step before the node and the data points you chose. The prompt then becomes read-only, and the button changes to Regenerate.
Choose the data points
In Fetch Lead Data, select standard data points or type your own keys.
| Data point | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Lead Score | A number from 0 to 100. Hot is 76 to 100, Warm is 25 to 75, and Cold is 0 to 24. It's empty when the lead is Unknown. |
| Sentiment | The lead's tone: positive, neutral, or negative. |
| Engagement Score | A number from 0 to 100 for how much the lead took part in the conversation. |
A custom key, such as budget, is filled from the conversation. Values that the conversation doesn't contain stay blank.
Save the result
When Save result to lead is on, the node saves the status as the lead's Lead Status and stores the data points in the lead's Lead Status Params. You can filter the Audience tab by Lead Status. When you turn it off, the node still branches on the result, but saves nothing.
Outputs
The node has four outputs. Connect each one to the next step.
| Output | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Hot | The lead is ready to buy or act. For example, notify your sales team. |
| Warm | The lead is interested but undecided. |
| Cold | The lead isn't interested. |
| Unknown | There wasn't enough evidence, or the AI step failed. |
Troubleshoot
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Every lead is Unknown. | Check that the node is connected to a call or WhatsApp Template node, that the lead had a conversation, and that the prompt defines Hot, Warm, and Cold. |
| A data point is blank. | The conversation didn't contain it. Name the data point in the prompt. |
| The prompt can't be edited. | After Auto-generate, the prompt is read-only. Click Regenerate to create a new one. |
