Write back to sheet node

Write contact data, call results, WhatsApp status, and lead qualification results from a workflow campaign to a Google Sheet, as a new row or an update.

The Write Back to Sheet node pushes data from a workflow run into a Google Sheet. Use it to log call outcomes, record qualification results next to the original lead row, or keep a running list of leads.

The node works on its own, or after any other node in the flow.

How it works

  • The node writes one row for each lead that reaches it, using the columns you map.
  • It can add a new row, or update an existing one.
  • It reaches the sheet through the Kipps.AI service account. You must share the sheet with that account as Editor.
  • The node has one output. It doesn't branch on success or failure.

Add the node

Open the Write Back group in the left NODES panel and drag Write Back to Sheet onto the canvas. Connect it to the step whose data you want to write. Double-click the node to open the Configure drawer.

Choose the sheet

If the workflow has a Google Sheet trigger before this node, the drawer asks Use the same sheet as the trigger. It's on by default. Turn it off to write to a different sheet.

To choose a different sheet:

  1. Open the Google Sheet and click Share.
  2. Paste the service account email shown in the drawer, set the role to Editor, and click Send.
  3. Paste the sheet URL or ID in Spreadsheet URL or ID and click Verify.
  4. In Target Sheet (Tab), select the tab to write to.

Choose the write mode

In Write Mode, select one option.

OptionWhat it does
Add as new rowAdds a row at the end of the sheet for every lead.
Update existing rowChanges a row that already exists.

For Update existing row:

  • When the node uses the same sheet as the trigger, Update the row that triggered this workflow is on by default. The node updates the row that the lead came from. Turn it off to match a different row.
  • Otherwise, under Match rows by, select a data field and a sheet column. The node updates the row where the column equals the field's value. If no row matches, the node adds a new row.

Map the fields

Under Data Field → Sheet Column, click Add field mapping for each value to write. In each row, select the data field on the left and the sheet column on the right. Each field and each column can be used once.

The data fields you can choose are:

GroupFields
Contact fieldsFirst name, Last name, Email, Phone number.
Custom fieldsYour contact custom fields.
Lead fieldsLead Status and Lead Source.
A Phone Call node earlier in the flowCall Status, Call Transcript, and Call Duration (sec).
A WhatsApp Template node earlier in the flowDelivery Status.
A Lead Qualification node earlier in the flowLead Score and each data point it extracts.
A Create / Update Variable node earlier in the flowEach variable it sets.

The column list shows the header of each column, or the column letter when the header is empty. If the header cell of a mapped column is empty, the node writes the field name into it.

Text longer than 50,000 characters is cut to fit a sheet cell.

Troubleshoot

ProblemWhat to check
Nothing is written.Check that the sheet is shared with the service account as Editor, and that you selected a tab and mapped at least one field.
The wrong row is updated.Check Match rows by, or turn on Update the row that triggered this workflow.
A field you expect isn't listed.Data from earlier nodes appears only when that node comes before the Write Back node in the flow.
