Connect Google Sheets

Connect a Google account or share a sheet with Kipps.AI so campaigns and workflows can read leads and write results back.

The Google Sheets integration lets Kipps.AI read leads from a spreadsheet and write results back to it. Use it when your leads arrive in a sheet, for example from an ad platform export or a shared team list.

You can connect a sheet in two ways.

MethodHow it worksWhere to use it
Connect with Google (OAuth)You sign in with Google and pick a spreadsheet. The Google Sheet source in voice and WhatsApp campaigns.
Share Sheet with Kipps (service account)You share the sheet with a Kipps.AI service account email as Editor. The Google Sheet source in campaigns and the Google Sheet trigger and write-back nodes in workflow campaigns.

You need the manage_integration permission, and your plan must allow the Google Sheet integration. If it does not, selecting the card opens an upgrade prompt. See Plans and add-ons.

Connect a Google account

  1. In the sidebar, select Integration.
  2. On the Google Sheets card, select Integrate. If an account is already connected, the button shows Update.
  3. In the Google Sheets Integration dialog, select Connect Google Account.
  4. Sign in with Google and approve access.

The dialog then shows Connected Account with the Google email. Kipps.AI asks only for access to the Drive files that you pick, so it cannot open other files in your Drive.

If Google revokes the access or it expires, the account shows Reconnect required. Select Connect Google Account again to authorize it.

Share a sheet with the service account

Use this method when you do not want to sign in with Google.

  1. Open your Google Sheet and select Share.
  2. Paste the service account email shown in the Share your Google Sheet with our service account box, set the role to Editor, and select Send.
  3. Paste the sheet URL into Google Sheet URL and select Verify Access. The workflow node labels this button Verify.
  4. Select the tab that holds your leads.

The Editor role is needed because Kipps.AI writes results back to the sheet.

Prepare the sheet

  • Put column headers in row 1. You cannot map fields without headers.
  • Include a column with phone numbers and the country code.
  • Add columns for the name and any other values you want on the lead. Mapped values go to contact fields or custom fields.

How reading works

Kipps.AI does not receive a notice when you add a row. It checks the sheet for new rows on a schedule, a process called polling. A new row is picked up on the next check, not the moment you type it.

  • Standard campaigns poll while the campaign is active, and only inside the calling window of 9 AM to 8 PM in the campaign time zone.
  • The Google Sheet trigger node in a workflow campaign polls while the campaign is started and checks every 5 minutes. See Google Sheet Trigger Node.

Kipps.AI remembers the last row it processed and reads from the next row on each check, so rows are not imported twice.

How writing back works

Campaigns that use a Google Sheet source write the lead's status back to the sheet. In workflow campaigns, the Write Back to Sheet node writes values to the sheet. Writing requires edit access, so use Connect with Google with the account that owns the sheet, or share the sheet with the service account as Editor.

Troubleshooting

The account shows Reconnect required. Select Connect Google Account and approve access again.

Verification fails. Check that you shared the sheet with the exact service account email, as Editor, and that the URL points to a Google Sheet, not a file in Drive.

New rows do not appear. Check that the campaign is active and that the current time is inside the calling window. Wait for the next check. Make sure the row has a phone number.

The sheet is not in Browse Drive. Kipps.AI can see only files that you pick. Use Browse Drive in the campaign to select the sheet.

Frequently asked questions
