WhatsApp conversation end trigger node
Start a workflow campaign when a WhatsApp conversation closes, optionally only when an AI condition about the conversation is true.
The WhatsApp Conversation End trigger starts a workflow when a WhatsApp conversation closes. Use it to follow up after a chat, for example to alert your team when a customer asked for a human, or to save details from the conversation.
How it works
- A conversation closes, for example, when it has been idle for longer than the End Conversation After Inactivity time on the WhatsApp number, or when it's marked as resolved.
- When a conversation closes, Kipps.AI checks every Active campaign in your organization that has this trigger.
- If you set an AI Condition, AI reads the conversation and starts the workflow only if the condition is true. Without a condition, the workflow starts for every closed conversation.
- Each conversation starts at most one run for each campaign.
- The contact is matched by phone number. If no contact exists, Kipps.AI creates one from the WhatsApp profile name.
- The trigger works only while the campaign is Active.
Add the node
Open the Triggers group in the left NODES panel and drag WhatsApp Conversation End onto the canvas. Double-click the node to open the Configure drawer.
Configure the node
| Setting | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Node Name | A name that describes the trigger, for example chat-ended. |
| AI Condition (optional) | A plain-language statement about the conversation. |
An example condition: "The user completed the full flow, faced an issue, or asked to talk to a human agent."
The AI judges the condition from the last messages of the conversation. If the check fails, the workflow doesn't start.
Data the workflow receives
The lead for each run carries these details, which later nodes can read:
conversation_id,recipient_id,whatsapp_number, andprofile_name.resolution_status,is_flow_ended, andflow_ended_at.manual_reply_enabledandmessage_count.- The most recent 50 messages of the conversation, each cut to 2,000 characters.
- When you set an AI Condition, the condition and the reason the AI gave.
Use a Router node to branch on these values, or a Create or update variable node to save details from the conversation on the contact.
What to connect next
The node has one output. Connect it to the next step, such as a WhatsApp Notification node that alerts your team.
Troubleshoot
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The workflow doesn't start. | Check that the campaign is Active and that you saved the workflow, and that the conversation has closed. |
| It starts for too few conversations. | Check the AI Condition, or leave it empty to run for every closed conversation. |
